The DISCOV.ER project, co-funded by the European Funds 2021-2027 of the Emilia-Romagna Region, focuses on enhancing the sustainability, awareness, and attractiveness of naturalistic and touristic areas through the use of digital technology. The project addresses the need to monitor climate changes and predict their impact on biodiversity, with a strong emphasis on raising public awareness about environmental issues. To achieve this, DISCOV.ER aims to develop a digital twin for natural and tourist areas, specifically in the Po Delta Natural Park. This digital twin will aggregate data from a network of sensors designed by the project team, along with data from other sources. Key activities include analyzing and designing the digital twin with stakeholder involvement, monitoring and collecting environmental and biodiversity data, implementing and training AI algorithms, creating a user interface for the digital twin, and conducting citizen science activities.
